The new playground located in south eastern corner of Eddie Ward Park, Surry Hills, was designed to retain a number of significant trees including three centrally located Jacaranda trees. Play is structured around an exisitng climbing net and is arranged to cater for a range of age groups whilst making use of the exisitng level changes and shade provided by the trees. The design inserts a new flying fox, toddler play, small skate bowl and a table tennis table in a compact and interlocking manner around the exisitng features. The resultant playgound now defines and anchors a corner of the park where the exisitng road intersection previously dominated the character of this portion of the park.
